Leek Town are beaten by a late penalty kick

BELPER snatched victory from the penalty spot five minutes time to inflict damage on Blues play-off hopes.

Matt Williams scored from the spot 10 minutes earlier forcing Ben Chapman into making his only serious save from a free kick.

Neither side created any clear-cut chances in the first-half and it wasn’t until the 47th minute that either goalkeeper was seriously troubled.

It was then Belper’s Scott Lowe reacted well to tip over Niall Macguire’s a goalbound attempt.

Chris Budry’s twice went close to levelling for Blues in the closing minutes, forcing a diving save from Lowe and then seeing his second attempt cleared off the line.

Leek Town: Chapman, Smith, Morris, Mullarkey, Francis, Chadwick, France, Maguire, Grice, Grimshaw, Stevenson. Subs: Faulkner, Danylyk, Williams, Budrys, Donnelly.
