Police respond to ‘sword waving’ incident in village

POLICE arrested a local man following an incident in Blythe Bridge yesterday morning.

Just after 8.25am officers we were called to reports of a man waving what was believed to be a sword on Uttoxeter Road/Wesley Street. The 31-year-old, from Blythe Bridge, was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Enquiries showed that the man did not have a sword but a cover from a martial arts sword.”
Witnesses are asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 126 of  June 14.
