Ashcombe Park could do Leek a huge favour against the league leaders

ASHCOMBE Park could do their neighbours Leek a huge favour when they welcome Premier Division leaders Porthill Park to Basford Bridge Lane in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League tomorrow (Saturday).

Second placed Leek would be open to close the 18 point gap on Porthill if Ashcombe are able deny their unbeaten visitors a victory.

Leek , who have made a fine start to the season, will be expected to win away to a relegation threatened Audley who just two wins to show from 11 starts.

Checkley will be seeking to improve on their mid-table position with a good performance at Longton.

In Division One, Cheadle fellow Moorlanders Blythe in what promises to be a fiesty local derby at the latter’s Cresswell ground.

Knypersley and Leek are both involved in the quarter-finals of the Staffordshire Cup on Sunday.

Leek journey to the south of the county to face Wombourne while Knypersley travel to Porthill Park. Matches start 1.30pm.

In the Shark Cricket Talbot Shield quarter-finals (2pm), Cheadle 2nds are away to Sandon and Checkley 2nds face a trip to Bignall End 2nds.

Also on Sunday, Staffordshire take on Berkshire in the semi-final of Unicorns Knockout Trophy at Longton (11am).
