Post office campaigners have the backing of a Government minister

MOORLANDS MP, the Rt Hon Karen Bradley, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, has added her weight to the campaign to keep a post office in Leek town centre.

She is concerned how the temporary closure of the office, currently situated in the soon-to-close the Waitrose  supermarket, on Buxton Road, will hit townsfolk.

Ms Bradley, pictured, has arranged an urgent meeting with Post Offices to clarify the situation and impress on them the need for a post office to be retained in the centre of Leek.

It’s especially important for pensioners, the vulnerable and others who rely on the post office for vital services,” she said.

The post office branch in Waitrose will close on Friday, Septembr 22, four days before the supermarket shuts.
