CHEADLE is celebrating the opening of a second sixth form college in the Staffordshire Moorlands town.
Painsley Catholic College now offers similar facilities for post-16 students to those recently launched at close neighbours The Cheadle Academy.
The two new sixth form centres replace the Moorlands Sixth Form College which closed this summer after facing financial problems.
The Moorlands Sixth Form was considered one of Staffordshire’s top performing colleges and was run by a partnership of The Cheadle Academy, Painsley Catholic College and Moorside High School at Cellarhead.
The college building has undergone a £150,000 makeover after being handed over to Painsley to create an alternative source of post-16 education in the town.
