LEEK Tennis Club is staging a new winter singles league competition for members in January.
It will be the first of a series of new upcoming events for club members.
The new league, which is free to enter, will offer all members the opportunity for some extra competitive/social tennis throughout the remaining winter months.
Players will arrange their own matches and will receive three points for a victory and one point for an appearance.
The winner of one-set of tennis will claim three points.
Members can only play the same opponent twice, any matches played after this will not count. If players are on the same points then those with more appearances will be ranked higher in the table.
All results must be sent to club welfare officer Sam Bostock who will then update the league table which can be viewed on the club website. If results are not sent in then they won’t count.
To register your place or to find out more information members should contact Sam Bostock at [email protected]gmail.com or on 07795901941.
Matches will be eligible from the January 1. The player at the top of the league table on April 1 will be club league champion.
The club will be staging tennis coaching sessions for youngsters in neighbouring Brough Park in the spring.
Experts will be reaching their skills to children from primary and middle schools in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
The scheme is being backed by the tennis club, the district council and the county sport partnership. For more details ring 07891 372 712.
