Blues boss Baker is hopeful of signing a new defender for Stamford game

LEEK Town boss Neil Baker is hopeful of strengthening his squad with a new defender today.

If he’s successful the player will be named in the squad for tomorrow’s home game against Stamford in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Baker, pictured, says his side ideally need to beat their visitors from Lincolnshire if they are to keep their play-off hopes alive- in Division One South.

Stamford, fourth in the table, were voted club of the month by the NPL in February. They conceded just one goal on winning three and drawing the other of their four games

Baker says Stamford are one of the best teams he’s seen in the league this season.
