Trespassing boys arrested after train forced to make emergency stop

TWO teenage boys have been arrested following a trespassing incident on the railway in Staffordshire. 

Police were called following reports of youths throwing stones from the railway bridge onto the A34 and Lodge Lane, Great Wyrley.

A short while later the youths forced a train to an emergency stop whilst trespassing on the railway line.

Following an area search by officers from Staffordshire Police and British Transport Police a 14 year old and a 16 year old boy from the Walsall area were arrested.

Sergeant Matt Walker of Staffordshire Police said, “Trespass on the railway puts people at risk. It can also endanger passengers and can cause unnecessary delays for commuters.”

Both youths have been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
