Tuesday Sport: A point not enough to get Stoke out of trouble

STOKE City slipped a little closer to the edge of the Premiership precipice last night, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at the London Stadium.

The Potters looked to have found some respite from their relegation worries, when Peter Crouch capitalised on an error by goalkeeper Joe Hart to give his side a 79th minute lead.

However, Andy Carroll swooped in the last minute to level for the Hammers, who had earlier had two goals disallowed – one for offside and the other for handball.

The point gained was not enough to lift Stoke out of trouble at the foot of the table. They are five points from safety with just four games remaining.
