Leek Town Ladies go goal crazy in final game the season



THE Blues Babes got off to the best possible start with a goal in the first minute.

Good work by Elise Skelding got the ball through to Emily Boon who fired a low shot into the corner of the net to open the scoring.

Six  minutes later and Boon turned provider for Rehanne Mellor to score the second and on 12 minutes Simone Kelsall played the ball out well to Skelding again with an assist to Kim Sheldon for Leek’s third.

Brereton attacks mainly looked for their pacy striker but they were finding it difficult to penetrate the solid Leek defence. Brereton did get a good shot away well saved by keeper Hannah Austin.

Straight from second half kick off Alice Painter used her pace to get around the back of the defence and pull the ball back for Lacey-May Smith to slot home.

On 51 minutes Michaela Lockett found Kay Sheldon who placed the ball past the keeper for Leek’s fifth.
The sixth goal for Leek was the result of a goalmouth scramble and Lacey-May Smith scored her second of the day.
Five minutes later and Charlie Awde played the ball out from the back to Kim Sheldon who found Mellor to slot past the keeper and on 72 minutes Mellor was in again to complete her hat- trick.

Emma Smith then found Kim Sheldon to hit a great shot from 20 yards to make it 9-0.
Leek’s final goal came when Mollie Shaw broke up play and sent the ball wide to Painter who got the ball into the box for Skelding to fire home.
