Highways teams busy clearing up after the effects of Storm Bronagh

HIGHWAYS teams have been working hard to deal with flooding on Staffordshire’s roads and to clear trees, branches and other debris after Storm Bronagh swept through the county.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways and transport leader Helen Fisher said: “There was extremely heavy rainfall over a short period in addition to the strong winds as Storm Bronagh hit the county.

“This resulted in many drainage systems becoming overwhelmed. Our highways teams have been out to numerous locations across the county throughout the night, working hard to clear gullies and deal with flooding issues such as lifted manhole covers. This has been in addition to their continued efforts in dealing with the effects of the wind.

“They will of course be prepared to deal with further heavy rain and strong wind forecast later this weekend.”
