Blues bid to return to the play-off places at home to Prescot Cables

LEEK Town face fourth-placed Prescot Cables to Harrison Park today (Oct 6), when they will be bidding to make a return to the play-off positions in the Evo-tik Northern Premier League West Division.

Blues failure to claim maximum points from their trip to Market Drayton in mid-week resulted them dropping down from fifth to eighth place in the table.

However, Neil Baker’s team are just two points adrift of Prescot on 16,  there is an extra incentive for them to win today’s game on home soil.

It was a night  of mixed emotions at Market Drayton for Blues striker Jordan Johnson. He was sent off for hand ball on the goal line not long after opening the scoring for the visitors.

With Tim Grice (hamstring) and Dan Trickett-Smith doubtful starters through injury, Baker will be looking for a repeat of last weekend’s home debut performance from new signing Aaron Bott.

The ex-Ball Haye Green striker, who has joined Blues from league rivals Newcastle Town, marked his arrival with a first-half hat-trick in a 4-1 defeat of Widnes.

Elsewhere, top-of-the-table  Leek CSOB will be striving to make it 12 games unbeaten at home to Eastwood Hanley in the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division.
