Blues Babes away to Stoke City Ladies first team this weekend

LEEK Town Ladies face an extra tough challenge when they travel to face Stoke City Ladies first team in the quarter-finals of the Staffordshire County Challenge Cup this weekend

The National Women’s Northern League side thrashed Black Country Fusion Ladies 20 (TWENTY) – 0 away in the previous round and in their latest game won 6-3 at home to Leeds United in the National League Cup

However, Ian Smith’s side are expected to make a good account of themselves against the cup holders at Community Drive, Smallthorne on Sunday, having won all 10 games to date in Division North of the West Midlands Regional Women’s League.

Two of Stoke’s star players are from Leek – captain Meg Bowyer and fellow defender Cassie Hyde – to add extra spice to next month’s clash between the two teams.

Leek progressed to the last eight of the county competition by beatingf Pelsall Villa Colts 6-0 at home.
