Not a knock-out Boxing Day for local football fans: Blues claim away draw

Leek Town goalscorer Rob Stevenson

IT wasn’t a knock-out Boxing Day for football fans in North Staffordshire as results went against them.

Stoke City’s 10-game unbeaten run in the Championship came to an end at Birmingham City where they lost 2-0.

Birmingham were the last team to have beaten the Potters on October 20 at the bet365 Stadium.

It as a miserable afternoon too for Port Vale who lost 1-0 at home to Grimsby Town in League Two.

Leek Town were held to a 1-1 draw at Chasetown in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League after Rob Stevenson gave them a 20th minute lead.

George Cater levelled for Chasetown in the 42nd minute with a curling free kick.

Blues dominated the second half without snatching the winner and were almost made to pay for their failure when Chasetown twice went close to scoring in the closing stages.

A solitary superb 15th minute goal from Tom Liversage gave Uttoxeter Town victory in their local derby with Rocester FC in the Total Motion Midland League First Division.
