STOKE City hare having talks with League One Luton Town manager Nathan Jones to replace sacked Gary Rowett.

Welshman Jones, 44, has been at Luton since January 2016 and guided the Hatters to promotion from League Two last season.

Jones made an immediate impression with Luton by guiding them away from relegation to non-league in his first term in charge.

He boasts a 51 per cent win rate with the Hatters who are now up with the promotion challengers for second-tier status.

As a versatile player Jones had spells with Brighton Hove Albion and Yeovil Town.

He gained coaching experience alongside Terry Skiverton and Gary Johnson at Yeovil and served with Oscar Garcia, Sami Hypia and Chriis Hughton at Brighton.
