PLANS have been lodged with the district council for two new fun rides for young visitors to CBeebies Land at Alton Towers.

They are proposed for an area currently used as a buggy park and a queuing area for Mr Bloom’s allotment show.

The ‘drop tower rides’ involve riders being lifted to the top of a tower and then released to the bottom of the ride and then back up again.

Currently CBeebies Land is made up of 14 rides including the Octonauts rollercoaster adventure, Postman Pat Parcel Post and the Tree Fu Tom Training Camp, together with other attractions.

An Alton Towers spokesman explained the two drop tower rides [not yet named] are aimed at a junior audience.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council planning committee members are expect to reach a decision on the application in the next few weeks.
