Black looks for Blues from boss Baker

Aaron Bott scored after seven minutes for Blues.

Kidsgrove Athletic 2, Leek Town 1

BLUES boss Neil Baker was disappointed to see his side lose to a late goal but could not complain about the result.

“ Apart from the first 10 minutes and the last 15 minutes we were second best for the rest of the game.,” he said.

“ I would have settled for the draw 15 minutes from the end on how we played, but the players didn’t and that was disappointing.”

To rub salt into the wound both Kidsgrove goals were scored by former Blues players Ant Malbon and Kyle Diskin.

Leek  started well with Aaron Bott giving them the lead after just seven minutes, but Malbon (19 mins) and Diskin (90 mins) hit back for the host to steal the points..

Despite losing Blues remain in the play-off positions (5th) of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League West Division.

Leek will need to be back to their best this Saturday when second-placed Runcorn Linnets are the visitors to Harrison Park.

LEEK Town Ladies fixture away to Port Vale in the West Midlands Regional Women’s League Division One North today (Jan 20) was postponed. The only other league fixture, between Florence FC and Shrewsbury Town, also fell victim to the weather.
