Stevenson at the double as Blues enjoy more success in the suburbs of Manchester

Rob Stevenson scored twice for Blues.

LEEK Town pulled off another superb victory in the suburbs of Manchester last night with a 3-1 success against fellow promotion challengers Radcliffe FC.

The win lifted Blues into fourth spot in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League West Division table and followed up their 3-0 victory at Trafford on Saturday.

The two sides had met only a month before when a bad-tempered and full-bloodied clash at Harrison Park saw Neil Baker’s side come out on top with a 2-1 victory.

Blues got off to an excellent start in their return clash when Rob Stevenson put them ahead after just two minutes.

However, Radcliffe levelled through Scott Metcalfe eight minutes later .

Blues eventually regained the lead with a goal from Charlie Walford in the 56th minute and then Stevenson struck again 14 minutes from time to ensure the visitors came away with all three points.

Leek will be looking to further cement themselves in the play-off places when they take on ninth-placed Colne at Harrison Park this Saturday (3pm).

STOKE City U23s entered the knockout stages of the Premier League Cup with a 4-1 victory against Charlton Athletic at Harrison Park.

Goals from Gabriel Kyeremateng (2), Will Forrester and Ollie Shenton scored the victory for the Potters.

It is the first time Stoke have reached the knockout stages of the competition.

They now face a long journey up into the North East to taken on Sunderland on Monday, February 25. The game will determine who tops the four-team Group A.

The two teams battled out a goalless draw in their cup encounter at Clayton Wood last month.
