A STAFFORDSHIRE Moorlands pub is set to be demolished to make way for a small housing development.
Plans have been drawn up for nine homes on the site of the Travellers Rest, Leekbrook, on the outskirts of Leek.
The proposal has been submitted to district council planners by Kingsley Moor-based Broad Oak Properties Limited.
Permission was originally granted to an applicant for the conversion of the pub into a shop and the building of five homes to the rear.
However, the application was withdrawn by the prospective buyer on learning it would cost £300,000 to repair the building.
There have been attempts by different tenants/owners to make the pub viable over the years, despite its location beside the busy A520 Cheadle Road.
