Promotion seeking Blues will have to make their point on a trip to the seaside

Blues goalscorer Jordan Johnson.

LEEK Town failed to claim the three points that would have secured their place in the end of season promotion play-offs.
Chasetown substitute George Cater put the damper on a celebration party for Leek’s biggest attendance of the season – 518 – with a cruel 72nd minute equaliser.
Cater beat Blues keeper Danny Roberts with a well-directed shot into the far bottom corner of the net from the edge of the box.
The 1-1 draw leaves Blues wanting a point from next Saturday’s trip to Colwyn Bay to be absolutely certain of a play-off place, while a victory would secure them an excellent third place finish.
Blues were made to pay heavily for wasting chances to add to the 17th minute lead given to them by Jordan Johnson from a Rob Stevenson assist.
Luckily for Leek the results elsewhere went their way, with fifth-placed Runcorn Linnets losing 2-0 at home to Widnes and Radcliffe FC and Ramsbotton United, second and fourth respectively, sharing the points from a goalless draw.
Colne move up into fifth spot after beating Clitheroe 3-0 at home.
