Biddulph make Sentinel Shield history but it’s heartbreak a third time for Alleyne’s

BIDDULPH High School has written itself into the history books of the Sentinel Shield by winning the competition two years running.
The Biddulph boys beat Thomas Alleynes (Uttoxeter) 3-2 at Vale Park in a re-run of last year’s final.
Alleynes have now lost three finals on the trot, despite going 2-0 ahead in their latest attempt to lift the shield.
Lewie Thornton shot Alleynes ahead after just four minutes and Archie McNair put them further in front 11 minutes minutes later.
Jake Dowd pulled a goal back for Biddulph right on half-time and this triggered a dramatic revival by the team after the break.
The shield holders dominated the second half but had to wait until late in the game to steal a victory.
Skipper Nathan Cleaver equalised for Biddulph with less than 10 minutes remaining and then 30 seconds from time Dowd struck a second time to give his side a sensational win.
