Three former Leek players set to return to Highfield for Staffs Development XI fixture

The impressive facilities at Leek Cricket Club

STAFFORDSHIRE Development XI return to action tomorrow (May 16) when they face Lancashire’s youngsters at the Leek CC ground.
The 50-over fixture will mark a return to Highfield for seamer Mitchell Spencer, who left Leek for Nantwich during the closed season.
Spencer skippered Leek to safety in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League Premier Division last summer, ahead of deciding to join the Dabbers’ in the top flight of the Cheshire County League.
Another former Leek player, Greg Willott, now with Bagnall Norton, will also be making a return to the Macclesfield Road ground, as joint coach of the Staffordshire Development team.
Willott has teamed up with Sam Kelsall to monitor the next generation of the county’s up-and-coming stars.
And another former Leek player likely to be at t the game is Staffordshire’s head of cricket, David Cartlidge.
Admission to the match (11am start) is free and refreshments will be available throughout.
Staffordshire’s Development XI got their 2019 season off to a winning start by defeating Warwickshire’s under 19’s by 51 runs in a 50-over game at Walsall.
Matthew Goodwin picked up two wickets for Staffs with fellow Cheadle team mate Austen Crump.
