County’s police and fire commissioner not seeking re-election

PFCC Matthew Ellis

MATTHEW Ellis is stepping down as Staffordshire Police Fire and Crime Commissioner.
The former Staffordshire County Council cabinet member, who also served on Lichfield City Council, became the county’s first police and crime commissioner in November 2012.
He was re-elected in 2016 with a near 10,000-vote majority and since then the Conservative member has added overseeing the county’s fire and rescue service to his role.
The elections for Mr Ellis’ successor will take place in May 2020.
