A bad day for Joey Barton as he brings his Fleetwood Town to Vale Park for a friendly

CONTROVERSIAL soccer boss Joey Barton brings his Fleetwood FC side to the Potteries for a pre-season friendly against Port Vale tonight (July 17).
The visit coincides with an announcement from South Yorkshire Police that Barton has been charged with causing actual bodily harm, following an incident at Fleetwood’s League One fixture at Barnsley in April.
The 36-year-old former Premier Division player has “emphatically denied” the accusation that he confronted Barnsley manager Daniel Stenden in the tunnel after the game.
Stenden was left with facial injuries following an alleged scuffe in the tunnel
A statement issued by South Yorkshire Police today reads: “Joseph Barton, 36, has been charged with actual bodily harm contrary to Section 47 assault and has been bailed to appear before Barnsley Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 2 October 2019.”
Tonight’s match at Vale Park kicks off at 7.30pm. Admission is £10 and £5 concessions.
The Lorne Street Stand is open for home supporters.
Vale beat Leek Town 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Harrison Park on Saturday.
