Rocester and Uttoxeter on FA Vase trail

A NEW manager and the return of the club’s leading scorer sparked an excellent win for Rocester FC against high-flyers Hinckley FC in the Total Motion Midland League last weekend.
Dodd, who has returned to Hillsfield from brief spell BetVictor NPL oufiit, Chasetown, scored two twice late on in the 3-1 defeat of visitors Hinckley.
New man in charge Paul Wright can also take some credit for his words of wisdom to his players at half-time, after they went in for their cuppa 1-0 down.
Wright has brought in two players from his former club Eastwood Hanley FC to strengthen his squad – Elisio Francisco and Asa Tominson .
He told The Sentinel’s Jim Hannah: “Elisio a really exciting player who will excite the crowd and Asa has a real football brain and plays the game the right way.
The Romans travel for a quick return clash with Hinckley tomorrow (Sept 14), when the two meets meet in the second qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Vase.
UTTOXETER Town also engaged in the FA Vase tomorrow at home to West Midlands League Premier Division side Wolverhampton Sporting.
Dean Arnold’s team reached the third round of the competition in 2015 before going out to Coleshill Town to a 94th minute decider.
Uttoxeter comfortably beat Bromyard Town, from Herefordshire, 4-0 away in the previous round and are currently three points off top spot in the MFL First Division.
However, they have suffered a recent dip in their league form, losing 4-3 away to Rocester on Bank Holiday Monday and 2-0 at home to NKF Burbage last weekend.
