North Staffordshire braces itself for Storm Dennis

THE Met Office have issued a Yellow weather warning for strong winds, which is in place from 10am today (Saturday) until noon tomorrow.
Winds will gust to around 50mph which is 10 -15mph less than those inflicted by Storm Ciara last week.
There will also be some rain, but unlike other areas of the country that have an Amber weather warning in place, the amounts we will see in Staffordshire are unlikely to be heavy or long-lasting.
Even so, the rain combined with the wind may make travelling difficult at times.
Many local football fixtures have been cancelled because of the weather, including Leek Town’s home game against Cleethorpes Town in the BetVictor Northern Premier League.
Motorists are being urged to take extra care on the roads because of the gusty conditions and driving rain.
Looking further into next week, there will be some showers and some wind around, but there are no warnings in place currently, and conditions should be better than we see this weekend.
